Tung Ho Steel Enterprise Corporation, formally established in 1962, was first founded in 1946 as the name of a small hardware store set up by C.T. Ho in Chiayi Taiwan . In the early days of the establishment, the company began by producing re-bars from dismantled ship plates.

In the 1970s and early 1980s, Tung Ho was led by T.T. Hou and Jen-Shyong Ho. During this period of time, Tung Ho Steel became the leading private steel maker and the predominant supplier for structural steel in Taiwan . From the late 1980s, Jen-Shyong Ho led another wave of major transition of Tung Ho Steel and built an operation concept based on the basic belief for self-discipline, passion for knowledge, and optimism. From every decision in the office to every activity in the factory, we carry out our fundamental operation concepts. This is how Tung Ho Steel has grown and developed over the decades.

Today, Tung Ho steel with head office located in Taipei has three main operations in Miaoli, Taoyuan and Kaohsiung . The main finished products include H-beams, Channels, I-beams, Universal Mill Plates and Deformed Bars. Tung Ho Steel is exploring overseas market, firstly, through her subsidiary's H-beam trading and fabrication, secondly, through her tin plate joint venture with JFE in China , and thirdly, through her environment protection joint venture with KTEC of Japan. We look forward to greater geographic diversification through exports and overseas operations, various product diversifications within the steel industry and more new business opportunities even outside of the steel industry.

Important Milestones
1965.01 Tung Ho Steel Enterprise Corp. was established in Chiayi.Mr. Chin-Tui Ho was elected to be the chairman of the board.  
1965.12 Head office relocated to Kaohsiung. 
1975.01 Mr. T.T. Hou was elected to be the chairman of the board and Mr. Jen-Shyong Ho as the president 
1987.02 Taoyuan Works was established and began to produce re-bars. 
1987.03 Head office relocated to Taipei. 
1988.07 Public listing of Tung Ho Steel stock on Taiwan Stock Exchange. 
1990.04 Mr. Jen-Shyong Ho was elected to be the chairman of the board. 
1994.07 Miaoli Works was established and began to produce medium-sized H-beams. 
1998.03 Kaohsiung Works began to produce small-sized H-beams. 
2002.07 Slab-billet combi-caster began to operate in Miaoli Works. 

東和鋼鐵成立於民國 51年 5月，目前除座落台北市長安東路之總公司與台中營業所外，另於高雄、桃園、苗栗、三處設有工廠。公司創立卅餘年來穩健踏實與台灣經濟發展一起成長。

於民國 77年以第一類股票公開上市；78年與德、日簽約籌劃 H 型鋼廠擴建，踏出國際化的第一步，至 83 年苗栗廠 H 型鋼正式量產，更成為全國唯一可一體成型的 H 型鋼廠，高雄廠亦於民國 87年完成 H 型鋼軋鋼工場擴建，使本公司 H 型鋼產品尺寸更加完備。

本公司三度榮獲 JIS 認證，並取得 ISO 9002 國際品保認證，面對未來國內各項大型公共建設(如高鐵等)之蓬勃需求，以及鋼樑鋼結構「線建築」之興起，公司遠景欣然可期。
