Wesfarmers Curragh is one of Australia’s leading coal producers. We operate the Curragh open-cut coal mine near Blackwater in Queensland’s Bowen Basin. We are part of Wesfarmers Resources who also hold a 40% interest in the Bengalla mine in the Hunter Valley of New South Wales. Beyond supplying metallurgical coal for international markets and thermal coal for domestic power generation, our mine moves our people closer to the action to help them develop broader, more rewarding careers.
Employing around 600 permanent employees plus contractors, Curragh mine is a safe and sustainable environment that supports our people to develop industry-leading skills across a range of corporate, technical and operational disciplines.
We aim to become the safest, lowest cost, independent Australian coal producer of choice, in the export and domestic markets. We’re committed to delivering quality products to our customers to ensure outstanding, sustained growth and exceptional returns for our stakeholders.
