ASA Metals (Pty) Ltd is a joint venture between Eastern Asia Metals Investment Co Ltd (Sinosteel’s company) from China and the Limpopo Economic Development Enterprise of South Africa, and was formally established in February 1997. Dilokong Chrome Mine (Pty) Ltd is a wholly owned subsidiary of ASA Metals (Pty) Ltd.
Brief introduction：

ASA Metals (Pty) Ltd (ASA Metals) established in Nov.1996. She is a joint venture between East Aisa Metals Investment Co.Ltd(EAMI) and Limpopo Economic Development Enterprise (LimDev, former NPDC). EAMI is 100% subsidiary of Sinosteel Corporation, Beijing and has 60% shares in ASA Metals while LimDev has 40%. Dilokong Chrome Mine (Pty) Ltd is a 100% subsidiary of ASA Metals. Dilokong Chrome Mine has an annual chrome ore mining capacity of 400,000Mt with ore reserve more than 50million tons. Dilokong Chrome Mine produces lumpy ore, chrome concentrate and foundry chrome sand, out of which foundry chrome sand is one import product used for foundry mould, refractory and nozzle sand etc.
ASA Metals currently has two smelters with installed capacity of 33MVA and 45MVA respectively and produce charge ferrochrome with annual capacity of 120,000Mt. Charge ferrochrome , the main product of ASA Metals, is mainly used in producing stainless steel. ASA Metals sells charge ferrochrome to Japan , Europe, China, Korea and Taiwan. ASA Metals is currently implementing its expansion plan to increase its charge ferrochrome annual capacity to 360,000Mt to meet the demand of the stainless steel sector especially the demand from Chinese market. ASA Metals ,as a resource base unit, will follow the strategy of Sinosteel Group to develop valuable chrome ore resources in South Africa as well as the circumjacent countries.

Dilokong Chrome Mine produces lumpy chromite, metallurgical concentrate and foundry grade sand. Only the foundry grade product with specifications detailed below is available for sale.

南非ASA METAL公司
ASA是中国中钢集团与南非林波波省发展公司的合资公司，中方控股60%。该公司计划斥资33亿兰特（4.4亿美元）新上两台各年产12万吨铬铁封闭式电炉和两条各年产54万吨铬原矿新斜井，该项目预计在2010年完工，届时ASA将拥有4台电炉，铬铁年产量将突破120万吨。目前ASA所属的Dilokonga铬矿（位于南非Burgersfort）储量4500万吨，年产铬铁40万吨。
