Mission and objectives
The Association of Automotive Makers (ADEFA) comprises ten auto plants which manufacture automobiles, light and heavy commercial vehicles and buses in Argentina. Its members are:
Mercedes Benz Argentina S.A., Fiat Auto Argentina S.A., Ford Argentina S.C.A., General Motors Argentina S.R.L., Iveco Argentina S.A., PSA Peugeot Citroën Argentina S.A., Renault Argentina S.A., Scania Argentina S.A., Toyota Argentina S.A. and Volkswagen Argentina S.A.
ADEFA was founded on September 29 th, 1961 for the purpose of fostering investment in the automotive sector, boosting local production of vehicles and promoting the industry entrepreneurship and competitiveness.
Of particular importance among the numerous activities carried out by ADEFA are those intended to promote the specialization of the automotive sector and a complementary symmetric system within the MERCOSUR. Being this an important key role, ADEFA is taking an active part in achieving it.
Furthermore, ADEFA permanently seeks the penetration of new markets for vehicles made in Argentina and in MERCOSUR. In regards to this, MERCOSUR succeeded in signing special arrangements with Mexico and Chile, and is collaborating with Argentine authorities seeking to enter into new agreements with other nations to benefit the sector.
Moreover, ADEFA periodically elaborates and publishes statistics about vehicle production, sales and exports.
